Small business in Montana
Montana's small businesses include construction and trades in fast-growing Bozeman, Missoula and the Flathead Valley, ranch and ag services around Billings and Great Falls, and outfitters, fly-fishing guides and lodges that work around Yellowstone and Glacier visitor seasons. Owners are often far from the office and out of cell range.
According to the SBA Office of Advocacy's 2025 profile of Montana, the sectors with the most small employers are construction and the trades, professional services such as law, accounting, engineering and consulting, repair and personal services such as auto repair, salons and dry cleaners, health care, including medical, dental and therapy offices and retail shops.
Where Ava helps Montana businesses
- Recording notice up front. Because Montana requires that all parties know about a recording, Ava's greeting can include a notice whenever your setup records.
- Guides and outfitters. Fishing, hunting and river guides can send calls to Ava while they're out of signal.
- Builders in growing towns. Contractors in Bozeman and the Flathead can have Ava capture estimate requests while they're on site.

Recording calls in Montana
All-party consent. Montana uses an all-party knowledge rule. Montana Code § 45-8-213 prohibits recording a conversation with a hidden device without the knowledge of all parties, but it doesn't apply to people who have been warned of the recording. In practice, announcing the recording at the start of the call is what matters.
Montana businesses often get calls from Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. Those states also use one-party consent for calls, though a caller from an all-party state like California can still reach your 406 number.
Ava always says she's an AI. If your setup records calls, the script we draft adds a short recording notice to her greeting, and you approve the wording. Interstate calls can be tricky; see the state-by-state overview.
Time zones and after-hours coverage
Montana runs on Mountain Time. We set Ava's business-hours and after-hours scripts to your local Montana time, so early-morning and late-night callers still reach someone.
