Small business in Delaware
Delaware packs a lot into a small state: professional and incorporation-services firms in Wilmington, state government and suppliers around Dover, University of Delaware traffic in Newark, and a busy summer beach economy in Rehoboth, Lewes and Bethany. Contractors and home services work all three counties on the same 302 number.
According to the SBA Office of Advocacy's 2025 profile of Delaware, the sectors with the most small employers are professional services such as law, accounting, engineering and consulting, construction and the trades, retail shops, repair and personal services such as auto repair, salons and dry cleaners and health care, including medical, dental and therapy offices.
Where Ava helps Delaware businesses
- Beach-season overflow. Rentals, restaurants and shops at the beaches can have Ava take reservation and availability calls during the summer rush.
- Professional offices. Wilmington law, accounting and registered-agent firms can send after-hours inquiries to Ava for intake. She never gives legal advice.
- Statewide service areas. Trades covering New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties can have Ava confirm the town and capture job details.

Recording calls in Delaware
Mixed or unsettled; treat as all-party for phone calls. Delaware's law is unsettled. 11 Del. C. § 1335 prohibits intercepting a private conversation without the consent of all parties, while § 2402 allows interception when the person is a party or one party consents. A federal court (U.S. v. Vespe) read Delaware law as permitting a participant to record. Because of the conflict, the safer habit is to tell every caller at the start.
Delaware businesses often get calls from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia. Of those, Maryland and Pennsylvania require all-party consent or have unsettled rules, which is one more reason to give a notice at the start.
Ava always says she's an AI. If your setup records calls, the script we draft adds a short recording notice to her greeting, and you approve the wording. Interstate calls can be tricky; see the state-by-state overview.
Time zones and after-hours coverage
Delaware runs on Eastern Time. We set Ava's business-hours and after-hours scripts to your local Delaware time, so early-morning and late-night callers still reach someone.
